Are you using your thinking skills?

What are you thinking?Having to use your thinking skills is a task you will have to face at sometime during your life. It is a task that puts some of us to shame, whilst others absolutely thrive on the prospect of having to use their thinking skills and generate new ideas. It doesn’t matter what particular area of expertise the ideas need to be generated in; the task of generating them is found to be the problem or not. I’m sure that we all have our theories as to why some can and some can’t; generate ideas that it.

I’m sure we all know a multitude of people who can think of new ideas without even giving a second thought, no pun intended. In the same way we are all aware of people who are forever claiming they are unable to think of any new ideas; I’m not very creative or I’m no good at that are the claims we are all so use to hearing.

How do you feel about the people in the different camps; my guess is if you are able to think of new ideas you will have a complete lack of sympathy for those who are unable to generate new ideas, on the other side you will demonstrate a certain competitive edge when you are faced with an ideas person. Whereas, if you struggle with new ideas you will be in total sympathy with the people who are unable to generate new ideas and be quite envious of those who ‘roll out’ new ideas like it’s second nature.

The good news is there’s nothing wrong with being ‘stuck’ for new ideas; it’s quite a natural state to find yourself in. At the moment perhaps it’s not one of your strengths, if that’s the case it’s your job is to make it one. It doesn’t work if you try to force the ideas, your ego tends to get in the way and prevent the natural flow of thoughts. If the ideas people were to be truly honest they would admit they also have their times when ideas aren’t very forthcoming and they have to admit to defeat. Now there’s a word to consider, defeat! It’s the defeat they don’t accept; when they draw a blank they consider it to be time for a rest, a rest away from the problem or issue they are faced with. They realise there is a point of mental saturation; a time when your mind needs a breather away from the issue or problem. The time away from the task gives their mind the opportunity recuperate and relax from the constant thinking of the challenge.

Are you guilty of thinking because you have a high IQ that you should be able to instantly think of new ideas; or on the other hand that because you didn’t achieve great results at school you’re not an ideas person. Well I’m sorry but both those thoughts need to be treated with the contempt they deserve. Your past results does not affect whether you can generate new ideas or not. Your level of intelligence does not determine your ability to generate new ideas.

To improve your success rate of your new ideas thinking starts with giving yourself more quality time; more time to yourself, relaxation time. Don’t start saying you haven’t got the time to give to yourself for relaxation; you need to make the time. If you feel under pressure from others to do more and more work to satisfy their needs, tell them where to ‘get off’ and find new friends and acquaintances. the additional work you are taking on and preventing you having ‘quality time’ is your choice and your choice alone. So it’s your choice to shed the workload; if that means changing jobs then change jobs. Take back control of your life and lead it along the path you want not the path somebody else wants it to follow.

Ideas come from your mind if your mind is overworked and tired just like your physical self it will not perform to it’s best ability. It needs time away, time to rest and recuperate. When you are tired your conscious mind tries to take over your thought process and generate idea after idea, however it’s your unconscious mind that thinks of the new ideas and that’s where many people fall down. They don’t give their unconscious mind the time and space to operate in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

So when you’ve decided to take back control of your life and you’re at the helm, it’s time to plan the quality time you need to enable you to relax and focus your mind clearly on where you want to go. That, you will discover is where your passions lie, which will be full of emotional drive. When you begin to clear your mind and focus you thoughts you will begin to educate your mind in new ideas generation. This process will take time; it is not an overnight journey, patience is the key.

You also should ensure you are continuing your Personal Development Training, there are many ways this can done, which is covered in an earlier blog; please read here. Your Personal Development doesn’t have to be formally plan although it does help. If it is planned your personal growth and self development will benefit more. Where necessary record you progress in a journal diary; this will allow you to review your progress at a later date.

As you begin to make progress with your clearer mind I suggest you being to learn the art of mediation and undertake classes. This will add quality to your improvements and enhance your progress.
