Learn something new

Free 108 Glossy Waxed Wood Social Media IconsOn this blog, I have written a number of times about how continuing your learning, is an important ingredient in the recipe of your personal development training.  I have recently been ‘walking my talk’ and I’ve completed an online blog optimisation course.

The course, “31 Day Challenge To Optimize Your Blog With Social Media” (video) was provided courtesy of John Haydon and as the name suggests the course lasted for 31 days.  My Social Media skills have always been in need of ‘brushing up’ and being given more focus and direction.  This course from John has provided me with just that.

The course started on the 1st January 2010 and finished on 31st January 2010, however this doesn’t mean you’ve missed out because you can still access the course material by visiting John’s blog.  Also if you feel in need of a little support whilst following the course material, I’m sure John would be available to point you in the right direction.  You should be able to contact him through his Facebook or Twitter account.  You are still able to follow the 31 Day Challenge at your leisure; in your own time and enjoying the learning experience.  I found John’s delivery to be very easily accessible and easy to follow; he also made great use of other bloggers within his network to write some guest posts.

As with many courses, there were a couple of pre-course activities to undertake, however these were fairly straightforward and not too taxing.  Each day John posted a different topic area with homework ‘to boot’. (Homework was non-compulsory, only advisory)

Some of the topic areas were:

  • Marketing Plan
  • Guest posting
  • Facebook
  • Engaging your community
  • Connecting with your Twitter followers
  • Twitter Techniques
  • Making use of Posterous
  • Using your LinkedIn

The above is only a sample of the areas covered by John, make a visit to his blog and take a look at the rest.

If you’re ready for the challenge make a trip to John’s blog; follow each of the daily posts and watch you and your blog grow.  If you subscribe to John’s blog you will be able to access all the posts through your favourite reader, as and when you require.

Thank you for reading this post, please let me know what you think and share your experiences of the 31 Day Challenge.
